12 Shoes For 12 Lovers

Sebastian Errazuriz Shoes12 Shoes For 12 Lovers is a project by sculptor Sebastian Errazuriz, where the artist has drawn inspiration from previous relationships and trysts, creating shoes in their honour. My favourite pairs from the set are the red “Heartbreaker” shoes and the black “Boss” shoes (pictured above). I’m not sure how practical either pair would be – that cupid’s arrow could get caught on things, and the “Boss” heels are far too pointy for a novice like me to walk in – but I really like both of these playful designs. I’m into accessories and shoes that have a bit of tough charm to them. I get a lot of compliments on a Mafia necklace I have, which has teeth on it, and I have coveted these Terry De Havilland boots from the moment I first saw them…Terry De Havilland Knife BootsSeriously, they are fucking magnificent.

David Bowie – The Next Day

ImageAnother amazing new video from David Bowie! Once again, he’s teamed up with Floria Sigismondi – the same director who did the video for ‘The Stars (Are Out Tonight)’ – and this time Bowie plays a prophet. Gary Oldman co-stars as a priest and Marion Cotillard is the leading lady, portraying a prostitute who develops stigmata. The cinematography and styling in this video is brilliant – so many frames make amazing images in their own right.Gary Oldman The Next DayEyeball platterDemonic NunLove this demonic nun look – definitely doing something similar for Halloween this year!Gary Oldman and Marion CotillardBleeding handsMarion CotillardCardinalStigmataGary Oldman The Next DayWhen I first saw it, I thought it was a bit of a shame that people are so jaded these days that it probably wouldn’t be recognised as being particularly scandalous. But then I read some headlines about how it had already pissed off some Catholics and I took comfort in the fact that of course religious zealots and Daily Mail readers are still so easy to shock! To experience it in its full glory you should probably watch it on Vimeo – then you don’t have to see an annoying logo and can watch it on a full screen. Enjoy!

Fantasy Man Generator

Fantasy Man GeneratorSmile Makers, the manufacturers of cutesy sex toys named after traditionally desirable male stereotypes (‘The Millionaire’, ‘The Fireman’, you get the idea…) have created this microsite which allows you to create a ‘fantasy man’ and put him in a ‘fantasy setting’ and then, um…email him to your friends? The whole exercise feels a little pointless, but I suppose it’s just a bit of promotional fun.Bateman FantasyI ended up half-heartedly making this, so I suppose it means that I’m subconsciously attracted to Patrick Bateman types, which is kind of soul crushing. Actually…doesn’t this guy remind you of Scott Disick? Oh dear.
I guess, it could be worse, when this is an option…CreepyYep, that’s right, it’s the sweaty anorak-wearing weirdo who’s often in your local Spar. Except he’s now wearing animal print underpants and he’s ready for action on, presumably, an 8-year-old girl’s bed. What the fuck?

Ellen Von Unwerth: Do Not Disturb

Ellen Von Unwerth has released a deliciously sleazy and kitsch video following her recent ‘Do Not Disturb’ exhibition at the Michael Hoppen Gallery this summer. Styled like some kind of high-end, retro, pay-per-view channel, it will appeal to any voyeuristic fashion fan. It’s almost verging on being a little bit too pornographic, but the fun soundtrack keeps it cute and lighthearted, featuring the likes of Tom Tom Club, Cameo and Marvin Gaye.
You can watch it over on the Vs. Magazine site – naturally, it’s NSFW!

Urgh.

NO. No, she is not. Now please, just go away, you infuriatingly feckless specimen!

Pat Falco’s Craigslist Portraits

Pat Falco is a hilarious illustrator whose imaginative drawings portray the sort of people who post some of the more bizarre Craigslist adverts. The great thing about them is that most of the time, they’re spot on – the short caption that has been attributed to the character appears to match them perfectly. Stylistically, the series resembles some of Michael Landy’s drawings, but because of how silly and genuinely funny the subject matter is, I can’t help but be reminded of the work of Chris (Simpsons artist) and Andrew Rae as well.

Eternal Summers – You Kill

Boy meets girl. Boy and girl make friends. Boy and girl go to a party. Girl makes some more friends. Boy misses his chance with girl. Boy takes his way-too-drunk best friend home. Girl wants to stay at party.

Oh, mayyyn!
